About Us

Our Community Health Service was established in 1992 as a joint initiative of the Doncaster/Templestowe and Nunawading Councils, primarily to manage a small Allied Health Program in the two municipalities. At that time we were named Doncaster – Nunawading Community Health Service. We were formally incorporated on 29th September 1993.

Following a redefinition of municipal boundaries in 1996, we were re-named Manningham Community Health Service, and our catchment area became the municipality of Manningham.

On 12th April, 2000 Stride Forward Early Intervention Program was integrated into our Community Health Service. An already well established Paediatric Service Program, providing assessment and intervention for young children up to the age of 6 years old, we were now covering over community’s needs very well.

We have grown rapidly over past 17 years with our annual income increasing from $146,000, in 1992 to just over $3.0m in 2008, however we are still one of the smallest community health service in the Eastern Region. We employ a range of Clinical Staff including physiotherapists, podiatrists, diabetic’s education, counselling, dieticians, speech therapists, occupational therapists, specialist teachers, psychologists and many more. We are supported by our Community with over 100 volunteers providing excellent support services, we are so grateful for their willing support.

Our Services are provided from sites at Doncaster East, Doncaster, Lower Templestowe, and Warrandyte.

Our funding is provided by the State and Commonwealth Governments, through the Department of Human Services. Additional income is provided by Manningham City Council that partially supports The Men’s Shed.
