Occupational Therapy

The Occupational Therapy team will visit frail aged (or older?) people and people with a disability to assess their home environment. They provide advice on equipment and home modifications with the aim of increasing safety and the ability to complete daily activities.

Our service can provide the following:

Training of clients and carers to maximise functional skills
Assessment for personal alarms
Assessment for manual and powered wheelchairs
Complete applications to apply for subsidies from the Aids and Equipment Program for equipment and home modifications

An Occupational Therapist also works with children between the ages of 2 and 12 years where there are specific concerns or delays in:

Fine motor skills eg. handwriting, using scissors, tying shoe laces, manipulating buttons or zips
Gross motor skills involving coordination, agility and balance eg. hopping, throwing, catching, running
Home, kindergarten or school difficulties eg. following routines, hyperactive behaviours, difficulties maintaining attention.
