Welcome to Access Health and Community
Monday 22 July, 2016
We’re changing our name.
From the week commencing 25 July 2016, Inner East Community Health and Manningham Community Health will be known as Access Health and Community.
Our new brand combines and embodies the quality of care we provide at all of our sites across Boroondara, Yarra and Manningham. The rebrand now means that we can provide a much more extensive range of services and have more experts than ever to attend to your needs.
Together with the community we strive to deliver an excellent service for all, we believe that all people should have ACCESS to a comprehensive HEALTH service, difficulty or inability to pay will not be a barrier to receiving a service. The COMMUNITY is at the core of our business, without the support of volunteers we wouldn’t be able to promote social activities throughout the area, which we believe are fundamental to having a healthy community.
Our brand has changed but we will still be operating at the same sites:
Ashburton | Box Hill | Doncaster | Doncaster Men’s Shed | Hawthorn | Hawthorn Community House | Hawthorn Occasional Childcare | Templestowe | Richmond.

Manningham Community Health Service was delighted to win the People’s Choice Award at the recent Victorian Healthcare Association (VHA) conference for their Biggest Winner health program.
Manningham Community Health Service CEO Jenny Jackson explains that the innovative program was developed in response to increasing rates of obesity and eating disorders, as well as concerns about body image in the local community.
Manningham Community Health Services was commended for responding to these challenging issues in a positive way that benefits people’s physical and mental health.
“The Biggest Winner program focuses on wellbeing rather than on weight loss,” said Jenny. “Dieting is not the path to a healthy weight. A person’s capacity for weight lossis determined by a number of factors including their stress levels, genes, social situation and medications.”
Evidence shows long-term dieting is unsustainable and can have detrimental effects, resulting in poorer health, which drove the weight-inclusive approach of this initiative “It embraces the principles of health at every size, removes the stigma related to body size and recognises that the path to good health is different for each individual ,” said Jenny.
“Simply advising someone to lose weight is not an effective solution. A supportive approach that is customised to individuals is definitely required.”
VHA CEO, Tom Symondson congratulated Manningham Community Health Service for delivering a program with positive client outcomes and the potential to be extended throughout the sector.
“Two key criteria of the VHA annual awards include strong evidence of the positive impact a health program has had on patient outcomes and its ability to be adopted by other health services so that more people might access its benefits,” said Tom. “The Biggest Winner Project at Manningham Community Health proved to meet both of these criteria convincingly and their peers agree. I congratulate Manningham Community Health on the success of its program and commend them for sharing it with the health community.”
Hundreds of people were helped by the program that almost doubled referrals to Manningham Community Health Service dietetics service.
The Biggest Winner program continues at Manningham Community Health Service.
