Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid training improves mental health literacy, reduces stigma and increases helping behaviours

ABOUT THE COURSE

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help given to someone who may be developing a mental health problem or is in a mental health crisis.  The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves. MHFA training has been evaluated in community and work place settings and has been found to be effective in improving mental health literacy, reducing stigma and increasing helping behaviours.

The MHFA training course will teach people how to help someone who may have a mental illness or is at risk of developing one. Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of mental health problems covered, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown to be effective.

At Manningham Community Health Services Limited (MCHSL), we offer standard Mental Health First Aid training, Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) and Teen Mental Health First Aid training.
